Zimbabwe records 133 new coronavirus cases pushing the tally to 1 611

Zimbabwe yesterday recorded 133 new coronavirus cases, 116 of them being local transmission, raising the total to 1 611.

There are now 791 local cases against 820 imported ones.

The country had 30 recoveries raising the total to 472 leaving 1 114 active cases and 25 deaths.

So far 101 375 people have been tested.

Police have warned that they are tightening lockdown measures which include the wearing of face masks and staying at home to curb the spread of the virus.

More than 100 000 people have already been arrested for violating the lockdown measures.

Coronavirus cases in the world continue to rise and now stand at 14.6 million.

They include 608 700 deaths, 8.7 million recoveries and 5.3 million active cases.

South Africa now has more than half of the coronavirus cases in Africa with 364 328 out of 724 702.
