More people recover from coronavirus in Zimbabwe as active cases drop slightly

A total of 134 people, 46 of them from Mashonaland West recovered from coronavirus today while there were 117 new cases, 28 of them in Harare.

There was one death in Mashonaland East which saw the number of deaths in the province increase to six and that for the nation to 314.

All provinces except Mashonaland West recorded new cases with Harare having the highest.

The number of active cases dropped to 1 716 but Bulawayo still has the highest number at 561 followed by Matebeleland South with 289 and Harare 247.

The number of active cases in Bulawayo continues to decline as it is having fewer new cases than recoveries. Today it had 21 new cases and 32 recoveries.

Mashonaland East had 16 new cases and 41 recoveries.

The number of cases globally is now nearly 75 million and includes 1.66 million deaths, 52.7 million recoveries and 20.7 million active cases.

South Africa is fast approaching one million cases. It now has 892 000 cases, more than double its nearest African rival Morocco which has 409 000 cases.
