Mnangagwa to announce decision on lockdown at 4pm

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will announce Zimbabwe’s decision on whether to extend the national lockdown or not in a live broadcast at 4pm today, government spokesman Nick Mangwana said on his twitter handle.

The lockdown which began on 30 March ends at midnight today but there are concerns that Zimbabwe has tested very few people and the number of people turning positive is on the increase.

Business says it cannot afford any extension of the lockdown as most companies will not be able to pay workers’ salaries.

Most Zimbabweans cannot afford any extension either as they have been paralysed for three weeks since most of them are self-employed.

Zimbabwe has tested 2626 people for the coronavirus and 25 have turned positive. Three of them have died while two have recovered.
