How girlfriends of Zimbabwe’s richest live

A woman claiming to be flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa’s customary law wife is seeking US$13 087.50 a month as maintenance for the couple’s two children – seven-year-old Trevor and one-year-old Jayden.

Pamela Rusere said she has been Chiyangwa’s girlfriend since 1998, according to a report by The Herald.

She was employed by Zimoco Motors but Chiyangwa forced her to leave her job because he did not want her to be employed by anyone.

Rusere said Chiyangwa had been looking after her ever since and was providing her with US$10 000 a month for her upkeep.

He also paid for her holidays in South Africa, China, Singapore and Dubai giving her about US$14 000 per trip.

She said Chiyangwa had stopped looking after her in June last year after she filed a protection order because he was abusing her physically and emotionally but she had since dropped the application.

Rusere said Chiyangwa could afford the US$13 000 monthly maintenance because his estate was valued at US$356million in 2008 and that valued should have doubled by now.

Chiyangwa’s wife, Elizabeth, is seeking a divorce and wanted maintenance of US$83 000 a month for the next 10 years.
