Former Zimbabwe revenue boss accused of fleecing State of $11 million

Former Zimbabwe Revenue Authority boss Gershem Pasi who is accused of prejudicing the revenue collector of $11 million was arrested last night and appeared in court today facing charges of criminal abuse of office.

He was granted $2 000 bail and was asked to provide surety in the form of title deeds worth $150 000.

Former Information Communication Technology minister Supa Mandiwanzira was also granted $2 000 bail yesterday for allegedly swindling $5 million.

Pasi was sent on forced leave in May 2016 to pave way for investigations into allegations of corruption and poor corporate governance.

He resigned a year later.

He told the Daily News in April this year that he walked out with nothing.

“For the 35 years in government service, I walked away with nothing,” he said.

“I am struggling now to get the small terminal benefits due to me and the leave days I had accumulated and that same car they accused me of registering as a (Toyota) Vitz, they took it away. So I walked away without even the vehicle I was supposed to be offered at book value. So I walked away with nothing.”
