Active coronavirus cases in Zimbabwe drop again, global deaths reach one million

The number of active coronavirus cases in Zimbabwe dropped once again to 1 479 as 39 people recovered while there were only nine new cases.

The country recorded no death for the fourth consecutive day, but global deaths surpassed one million today with India which has the second highest number of cases surpassing six million cases. It has 95 100 deaths far fewer than third placed Brazil which has 141 500 deaths and the United States which has 209 300 deaths.

Zimbabwe now has 7 812 cases but 6 106 people have recovered and 227 have died.

Five provinces have less than 10 cases each.

Midlands has no active case after all 27 people recovered in the past 24 hours.

Mashonaland East has three cases, Mashonaland Central, four, Masvingo, 1 and Matebeleland North, 4.

Although the number of cases in Bulawayo dropped today, it still has 101 active cases. Matebeleland South is static at 183 while the number of cases in Harare rose to 1 125.

Globally there are now 33.2 million cases, one million deaths, 24.5 million recoveries and 7.7 million active cases.
