1 500 recover from coronavirus in Zimbabwe but 45 die

A total of 1 511 Zimbabweans recovered from coronavirus today but 45 others died, 14 from Mashonaland West and 13 from Harare bringing deaths to date to 962 and those for this month to 599.

Most of those who recovered were from Harare which had 786 and Mashonaland East 371.

There were 476 new cases resulting in the number of active cases dropping to 8 481. Harare now has 3 629 cases, followed by Manicaland with 1 314.Mashonaland West 663 and Bulawayo 467.

Cases recorded to date now stand at 30 523 and 16 656 are for this month alone.

Those hospitalised have risen to 280 with 179 mild to moderate cases, 81 severe and 20 in intensive care.

Transport Minister Joel Biggie Matiza died of the pandemic today raising to four the number of ministers who have died from coronavirus.

ZANU-PF legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena has warned that more ruling party big wigs could die of coronavirus after attending a party that he said was organised by Mr Superspreader.

In South Africa the number of cases and deaths continued to rise though more people are recovering. Cases now total 1.39 and deaths 40 076. There re 151 208 active cases.

Globally there are now 98.6million cases, 2.1 million deaths, 70.8 million recoveries and 25.5 million active cases.
