Zimbabwe warns citizens against SA-based conmen promising farming equipment

Zimbabwe has warned its citizens against South African-based Zimbabweans that are trying to con unsuspecting people by promising them that they have been allocated farming equipment and must help meet the transport costs.

A press statement issued by Misheck Sibanda, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet , said the conmen are demanding sums ranging from R8 000 to R20 000.

Sibanda said the conmen phone people from South Africa saying they have been allocated tractors, centre pivots and other farm equipment.

Initially they targeted government ministers, deputy ministers, Members of Parliament and senior civil servants.

They are now targeting religious leaders.

Sibanda said the government had no such scheme.
