Zimbabwe records more new coronavirus cases than recoveries for second day running

Zimbabwe today recorded 70 new coronavirus cases and 62 recoveries with the number of active cases increasing to 1 076.

This was the second day it recorded more new cases than recoveries, reversing a trend that began on Monday when it had more recoveries than new cases resulting in the number of active cases dropping  from 3 037 on Sunday to 1 051 on Wednesday.

The country now has 5 815 cases and 4 587 recoveries.

One person from Manicaland died today raising the total to 152.

Manicaland has the third highest deaths with 16 just below Bulawayo with 28 and Harare with 83.

There are now 23 million cases globally with 799 800 deaths, 15.6 million recoveries and 6.6 million active cases.

The number of active cases in South Africa is also going down and is now at 90 153. It has 599 940 cases and 12 618 deaths.
