It also imposed a 6pm to 6am curfew.
Fourteen people have died in the first two days of this year and there were 624 new cases.
Zimbabwe has now recorded 14 491 cases and 11 363 people have recovered.
Six people died in the capital, Harare, and two in Masvingo. The national death toll now stands at 377.
Harare also recorded 199 new cases today raising the number of active cases in the capital to 742.
There are now 2 751 active cases with Matebeleland South having the second highest number at 469 followed by Bulawayo with 373.
Only 16 recoveries were recorded today, all from Bulawayo.
Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga who is also the Minister of Health announced the new measures which included the closure of bars, bottle stores, gymnasiums and restaurants for 30 days.
Intercity and cross border travel has also been terminated.
The surge in the pandemic continues across the globe with the number of cases now rising to 84.7 million. So far 1.84 million people have died, 59.9 million have recovered but there are still 23 million active cases.
Cases in neighbouring South Africa continue to rise and now stand at 1.09million. Some 29 175 people have died and there are 162 010 active cases.
