Zimbabwe records 70 coronavirus deaths, 48 in Harare

Zimbabwe today recoded 70 coronavirus deaths, 48 of them in Harare alone but some dated from as far back as Friday.

There were 326 new cases and 627 recoveries.

So far the country has registered 31 646 cases, 22 877 recoveries and 1 075 deaths.

There are 7 694 active cases.

Harare has the highest number of active cases but they are now down to 3 173. Manicaland has 1 011 followed by Mashonaland West with 6 47. Bulawayo is now down to 430.

Globally the number of cases has just surpassed 100 million. Some 2.15 million people have died, 72.1 million have recovered but there are still 25.9 million active cases.

The United States also just surpassed 430 000 deaths.

South Africa has registered 1.42 million cases and 41 117 deaths but the number of active cases has dropped to 134 999.
