Zimbabwe presidential candidate pulls out but told it’s too late

One of the 23 presidential candidates in next week’s elections, Divine Mhambi Hove of the National Alliance of Patriotic and Democratic Zimbabweans, today announced that he is pulling out of the elections but he was told it was too late as postal voting had already started.

Hove said he was pulling out because the elections were not going to be credible because of poor handling by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

Several opposition parties have demanded electoral reforms with the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance saying it will not participate in a farce.

The elections are only six days away.

Hove was told it was too late to withdraw because his name was already on the ballot paper and some people had already voted on the postal ballots.

Zimbabwe is holding a very crucial election which has been one of the most peaceful but some elements seem bent on getting the election discredited.

Zimbabwe has for the first time in nearly 20 years invited international observers to come and witness its elections.

It is hoping to join the international community if its elections are judged free and fair.
