Zimbabwe MP says Finance Minister must be fired for incompetence

Q & A:

HON. MATEWU:  Thank you Mr. Speaker Sir.  My question is directed to the Hon. Vice President, Hon. Kembo Mohadi.  Mr. Speaker Sir, what is Government policy in terms of reshuffling and firing incompetent Ministers who have brought this country to its knees?  Mr. Speaker Sir – [HON. MEMBERS: Inaudible interjections.] –

THE HON. SPEAKER: Order.

MATEWU: Mr. Speaker Sir, there are Ministers who have brought this country to its knees and I will give a few examples; for example, the Minister of Finance, the Deputy Minister of Information who are so incompetent that they are bringing the Government into disrepute. What is your policy in terms of reshuffling and firing incompetent Ministers? Thank you – [HON. MEMBERS: Hear, hear.] –

THE HON. SPEAKER: Order, order! Please be directed by the Constitution, Hon. Matewu – [HON. MEMBERS: Inaudible interjections.]- Order! Your question is very good, but unfortunately the Hon. Vice President – in terms of the Constitution, is not the appointing authority –[HON. MEMBERS: Inaudible interjections.] – Order, order! He is not an acting President.  Unless the Hon. Vice President is Acting President, then I would allow the question.  Read your Constitution!
