Manicaland, which is now in second place in terms of active cases, recorded the highest deaths with six and has, so far, recorded 70 deaths. Harare has the highest at 177 while Bulawayo is second with 119.
144 people have died so far this month, the highest for any month since the outbreak of the pandemic in March last year, yet there are still 21 days to go before the end of the month.
There were 978 new cases today bringing the total to 21 477. This month alone, there have been 7 610 new cases.
There are now 8 388 active cases. Harare has 4 014, followed by Manicaland with 741 and Mashonaland East with 676.
Bulawayo, which a month ago had the highest number of active cases, has been pushed to fourth place with 649.
143 people recovered today raising the total to 12 582.
Health experts have warned that the country might be forced to extend the stiff 30-day lockdown under which the country is under a 6pmto 6am curfew, shops close at 3pm, and movement of people is restricted to emergencies like shopping and buying medicine, if people do not change their behavior.
The situation is not improving across the globe either. There are now 90.5 million cases. Some 1.94 million people have died, 64.7 million have recovered but there are still 23.9 million active cases.
The United States has the highest number of active cases at 9 million, followed by France with 2.5 million and the United Kingdom with 1.6million.
