Zimbabwe coronavirus death toll rises to 304 as one more person dies in Harare

Zimbabwe’s coronavirus death toll rose to 304 yesterday after one more person from Harare died becoming the 20th to die of the deadly pandemic in the capital this month.

Nine people died in Harare on Tuesday and another nine at the weekend. Some 141 people have died of oronavius in Harare since the outbreak in March.

Bulawayo, however, continues to have the highest number of new cases. It had 51 of the 95 new cases recorded yesterday but 53 people in the city also recovered resulting in the number of active cases dropping to 585.

Cases reported in Zimbabwe so far are 11 007 and recoveries have risen to 9 147.

There are 1 556 active cases, 229 of which are in Matebeleland South and 212 in Harare. The number of active cases in Matebeleland South dropped after it recoded 25 recoveries and four new cases.

Globally the number of cases now stands at 69.2 million. Some 48 million people have recovered, 1.58 million have died but there are still 19.7 million active cases and they are rising.
