Zimbabwe coronavirus cases surpass 2 500

Zimbabwe today recorded 78 new coronavirus cases pushing the total to 2 512.

There were no deaths for a change, but local cases continued to outpace imported ones.

Today, 74 cases were local transmissions increasing the tally to 1 486 and that for imported cases to 1 026.

The country now has 1 960 active cases and has tested 119 866 people.

Globally, there are now 16.4 million cases.

Deaths just exceeded 651 100 while 10 million people have recovered but there are still 5.7 million active cases.

South Africa today recorded more than 11 000 new cases pushing the total to 445 433.

It also had more than 100 deaths bringing the total to 6 769.
