Zimbabwe anti-corruption Commission arrests Tourism PermSec

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested another high ranking government official, Munesu Munodawafa, the Permanent Secretary for Tourism, according to the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation.

Munodawafa is the third high ranking government official to be arrested within a week, the first being his boss Tourism Minister Prisca Mupfumira.

Mupfumira has already appeared in court on allegations of corruption involving $95 million from the National Social Security Authority when she was Minister of Labour.

ZACC arrested former State House director Douglas Tapfuma yesterday. He was due in court today on allegations of corruption involving the importation of vehicles without paying duty.

It is not clear what charges Munodawafa is facing but he was embroiled in allegations of corruption involving Air Zimbabwe in 2017 when he was Permanent Secretary for Transport.

Mnangagwa has upped his game against corruption but observers say people will only take his administration seriously when there are convictions.
