The cause or time of his death are not yet known.
Shiri is a former liberation fighter who rose to fame as commander of Five Brigade when it was deployed to Matebeleland and the Midlands to deal with “dissidents” in the 1980s.
He was later moved to the Air Force and was one of the three top military officials that joined Mnangagwa’s administration after the 2017 military intervention that removed then President Robert Mugabe.
