ZANU-PF suspends 39 more

The Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front has suspended 39 more members from Mashonaland West, Bulawayo and Matebeleland South bringing the number of party members so far suspended to 141.

A dozen more have been expelled from the party.

It is not clear whether there will be more suspensions or not as Matebeleland North has so far not been mentioned, though at the last politburo meeting, party spokesman Simon Khaya Moyo said the party was still looking at disciplinary actions in four other provinces which included Matebeleland North.

In the latest purge which started after the party congress in December, eleven members were suspended in Mashonaland West including heavyweights, former national commissar Webster Shamu, a former Deputy Minister Sylvester Nguni and legislator Kindness Paradza.

All three, however, remain legislators: Shamu for Chegutu East, Nguni for Mhondoro Mubaira and Paradza for Makonde.

Twelve members were suspended from Bulawayo with the only high profile person being Callistus Ndlovu, a former cabinet minister.

In Matebeleland South, 16 members were suspended including Andrew Langa, the Minister of Sports.
