A company belonging to Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front Member of Parliament for Chegutu West Dexter Nduna was reportedly involved in a multi-million dollar road rehabilitation scandal in which it was paid $2.2 million but did not complete the job.
According to The Herald Badon Enterprises was allegedly hand-picked by the Chegutu Rural District Council to repair the 28km Musengezi-Makwiro road in Mashonaland West.
The consulting engineer Dande Civil Projects recommended that the job should cost $681 000 but the contract entered into with Badon Enterprises was for $828 451.25.
The company, however, ended up being paid $2 212 508.52.
Nduna told The Herald that his hands were clean.
“We carried out all the work and the amount ballooned because it included such structures as bridges,” he said.
Nduna is currently the chairman of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Transport- the parliamentary watchdog for the ministry and projects like the one his company was involved.
