World’s richest man proposes 3-day working week!

Carlos Slim, who for three years from 2010 to last year was the world’s richest man, has suggested a three-day working week so that people can retire at 70 or 75 instead of the current 50 to 60 years. And he argues that people would be more productive. But he says his work day would have to be 11 hours and not the current seven or eight hours. “People are going to have to work for more years, until they are 70 or 75, and just work three days a week – perhaps 11 hours a day. With three work days a week, we would have more time to relax; for quality of life. Having four days off would be very important to generate new entertainment activities and other ways of being occupied,” he was quoted by the Financial Times as saying. Slim, a Mexican, overtook Bill Gates of Microsoft to become the world richest man but has since slipped one notch down to give way to Gates again. He is 74.
