Woman’s body is a brewery

A New York state woman who was arrested while driving with a blood-alcohol level more than four times the legal limit was freed after it was discovered that she had a rare condition called “auto-brewery syndrome”.

Her digestive system converts ordinary food into alcohol and this has been proven by medical research.

Her lawyer, who declined to name the women citing medical confidentiality, ordered some tests after his client argued that she hadn’t had more than three drinks, six hours before she was pulled over by the police.

Her blood-alcohol content was found to be 0.36 without drinking any alcoholic beverages. Tests over 18 days saw her registering 0.20 every time. The legal limit in New York is 0.08.
