What wikileaks said about Jonathan Moyo- Final all 226 cables

The assertion by the United States embassy that Jonathan Moyo was a political chameleon, a master at changing spots and a man driven by personal ambition might be true if the former adviser to then Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Gorden Moyo’s, views are correct

Gorden Moyo said Jonathan Moyo, who was re-admitted to the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front after almost five years in the wilderness, was one of the hardliners who were ready to scuttle the inclusive government to take over ZANU-PF.

He told United States embassy officials that President Robert Mugabe was the key to keeping the inclusive government alive and to the process leading up to a new constitution and elections.

“Without Mugabe, there would be chaos, and hardliners who want to scuttle the GPA — Moyo pointed to Patrick Chinamasa, Emmerson Mnangagwa, Gideon Gono, George Charamba, and Jonathan Moyo — would take over ZANU-PF,” he was quoted as saying.

Jonathan Moyo is now in a different camp and has been at Mnangagwa’s throat since he was appointed Vice-President and had a scuffle recently with his former secretary George Charamba.

Former central bank governor Gideon Gono’s political fortunes have tumbled and it is not clear where he stands.
