Zimbabwe’s inflation for August was officially put at 0.14 percent but United States economist Steve Hanke says the country’s inflation is 242.72 percent.
Hanke says Zimbabwe now has the second highest inflation in the world after Venezuela.
The Zimbabwe National Statistics Office said the month-on-on the inflation was still in the negative something Hanke disputes.
Hanke came up with an astronomical 89.7 sextillion percent inflation for Zimbabwe in 2008.
A sextillion has 21 zeroes.
He uses Old Mutual’s share price in London against that in Zimbabwe to measure the country’s inflation.
