What is it about Mnangagwa?

What is it about Emmerson Mnangagwa that attracts so many people to gang up against him?

In the 1980s it was the group of 21 which grew up to the group of 26 which worked tirelessly to distance him from then Prime Minister Robert Mugabe.

They succeeded in wrestling the powerful state security ministry from him sidelining him to  justice but he never lost his grip on the reins of power.

At the turn of the century he was demoted to minister of rural housing but he rescued Mugabe from being kicked out by Solomon Mujuru and company and was rewarded by being appointed Defence Minister.

The total onslaught came when he was appointed Vice-President. The G40 faction and former first lady Grace Mugabe humiliated him so much but when they kicked him out of the party and out of government, he said he would be back in a few weeks, and he was back to take over from Mugabe.

Now we are told Grace Mugabe and Joice Mujuru may be ganging up against him. What has brought the two former enemies together?

There has always been the argument that “ane bhora ndiye anomakwa”.

Does Mnangagwa have the ball?

More importantly is he going to score?

If not, why does everyone seem to be scared of him?
