We must be innovative- Mphoko says

Zimbabwe Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko has urged the people, especially the youths, to be innovative, saying the government is committed to bring about policies that will support industries and the people.  Zimbabwe’s industry has virtually collapsed with little manufacturing output and capacity utilisation in industry put at only 30 percent.  “His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde R.G. Mugabe through his government is seized with the need to develop policies that support our industries and our people, that is why we have in place the ZIMASSET blueprint,” Mphoko was quoted by The Herald as saying. “Further, the business community is working well with government in identifying challenges and opportunities, the mindset of industry should be complimentary to the government policies and support…. I note that we are missing a critical category, the youth in business. I hope in the next year when I officiate at this event you will have, hopefully, added them. We need to be innovative, develop and market some of our technologies and products such as making pudding from our indigenous fruits.”  Zimbabwe is under pressure to reform its empowerment laws, but that was the platform on which the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front campaigned to win last year’s elections.
