Wadyajena cleared of insulting Grace Mugabe

Gokwe-Nembudziya Member of Parliament Justice Wadyajena was yesterday cleared of charges of insulting First Lady Grace Mugabe at the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front annual conference in Victoria Falls last month but will face a lighter charge of disorderly conduct.

He was cleared after his lawyer Givemore Muvhiringi argued that the main charge of criminal insult was declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court.

Wadyajena will stand trial on the lesser charge on 1 February and is out on $800 bail.

He is accused of bad-mouthing the First Lady after teasing another party member Jimayi Muduvuri of putting posters all over his car saying “Munhu wese kuna Amai”.

The party’s Midlands province had already cleared Wadyajena saying there was bad blood between him and Muduvuri.
