United Kingdom and European Union trying to squeeze in Chamisa into the picture

In what appears to be a clear indication that Movement for Democratic Change Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has a slim chance of winning the election challenge that is being heard at the Constitutional Court, European and British diplomats proposed the creation of a UK-style parliamentary opposition structure in Zimbabwe where the leader of the opposition and his chief whip are paid by the state.

Bloomberg reports that UK and EU emissaries met representatives of both the Zimbabwe African Union-Patriotic Front and the MDC Alliance over the past 10 days.

The report said though President Emmerson Mnangagwa had not been approached, his deputy Constantino Chiwenga had indicated that he might welcome the proposal.

It also said it was not clear whether Chamisa would accept the proposal.

Chamisa has been adamant that he won the elections.
