Tsvangirai starts four-day tour of Mujuru’s home province

Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai was today expected to start a four-day tour of Mashonaland Central Province, former Vice-President Joice Mujuru’s home province and stronghold.

Mujuru had a grip on the province which had also become the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Party’s strongest province after ZANU-PF leader Robert Mugabe fell out with supporters from key provinces like Masvingo and Manicaland.

It is not clear how much power she still holds in the province since her fall-out with the party last year.

The four-day tour was expected to start off today in Muzarabani, ending on Sunday in Mount Darwin.

Tsvangirai’s visit comes only days after Mujuru released her manifesto though she has not yet officially launched her party. There have also been whispers that the two leaders are trying to form a coalition.

It is not clear whether Tsvangirai and Mujuru will meet during the tour, but this could be strategic timing to keep fires burning as ZANU-PF is said to have been raffled by the “coming out” of Mujuru, though the party insists that she is not a threat at all.

Tsvangirai spokesman Luke Tamborinyoka did not hide the link saying, the tour “comes at a time Zimbabweans of all political formations are converging on the need for a united front to confront the political challenges facing the people of Zimbabwe”.

 President Tsvangirai wades into Mashonaland Central

President Morgan Tsvangirai tomorrow begins a four-day trip to Mashonaland Central province for meetings and consultations with party supporters and Zimbabweans in general at a time the government has run out of any ideas to solve the worsening economic crisis in the country.

President Tsvangirai, never one to miss an opportunity to interact with ordinary Zimbabweans, goes into Mashonaland Central at a time Zimbabweans have lost all hope for economic  recovery under the  clueless leadership of  ZANU PF whose President is now so old he is now given to falling at public places, mixing his lines and reading wrong speeches at public events.

Tomorrow, the MDC leader kicks off his tour of Mashonaland Central at Muzarabani business centre before meeting ordinary Zimbabweans at Nzvimbo growth point in Chiweshe on Friday. On Saturday, he will be at Nyava business centre in Bindura South and he will conclude his visit to the province in Mt Darwin on Sunday.

 President Tsvangirai will take time to meet party structures and listen to the problems facing the people at a time the nation is convinced the party in government has no capacity to deal with the monumental crisis engulfing the country.

President Tsvangirai's visit to Mashonaland Central comes at time Zimbabweans of all political formations are converging on the need for a united front to confront the political challenges facing the people of Zimbabwe.

A tried and tested leader gifted with a natural chemistry with the people, it is his popularity among the ordinary people that sets President Tsvangirai apart from other political leaders.
