Tsvangirai’s 8-point plan to rescue Zimbabwe

Besieged Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai has come up with an eight-point plan to rescue Zimbabwe but he says in order to achieve economic and political reforms there is need to remove ZANU-PF from power as the party has no solution to change the people’s lives for the better.

According to a statement issued by the party, Tsvangirai is said to have unveiled the plan at a rally at Glen Norah yesterday.

“ZANU-PF will never be reformed, it can only be gotten ridden off. To change the people’s fortunes the MDC is the only party that can achieve that. The MDC is the people’s party. The history of this party is that of the poor,” he said.

The eight-point plan to the national revival is as follows:

  1. Engaging in national political dialogue where all national stakeholders will participate in.
  2. Economic revival.
  3. Political reforms.
  4. Social sector.
  5. Global engagement.
  6. National cohesion.
  7. Holding free, fair and credible elections.
  8. Infrastructure rehabilitation.

Thousands attend President Tsvangirai rally
President Tsvangirai on Sunday outlined the MDC’s Eight Point Plan that seeks to rescue the people of Zimbabwe from the economic and political crises that they are currently.

Addressing thousands of party supporters at a rally held in Glen Norah C, Harare, President Tsvangirai said there was need for a national dialogue to map the way forward.

The Eight Point Plan to the national revival is as follows;
1. Engaging in national political dialogue where all national stakeholders will participate in.
2. Economic revival.
3. Political reforms.
4. Social sector.
5. Global engagement.
6. National cohesion.
7. Holding free, fair and credible elections.
8. Infrastructure rehabilitation.

“As the MDC we have a plan to change this economy for the better and the MDC is the only alternative” President Tsvangirai said.

He said there was a paralysis of leadership in the country which has resulted in the serious suffering of the people. “Our record is clear. During the inclusive government we managed to source 13 million textbooks, we revived the health sector and people had access to potable water but we know that more can be done,” President Tsvangirai said.

He said in order to achieve economic and political reforms there was need to remove Zanu PF from power as the party has no solution to change the people’s lives for the better. “Zanu PF will never be reformed, it can only be gotten ridden off. To change the people’s fortunes the MDC is the only party that can achieve that. The MDC is the people’s party. The history of this party is that of the poor,” he said.

The President castigated rampant corruption in parastatals, local council authorities and the unnecessary interference by Zanu PF’s Ignatious Chombo in the local councils, seriously affecting service delivery.

President Tsvangirai was accompanied at the rally by several members of the National Standing Committee, provincial chairpersons, MPs and Harare councillors.
