Tsvangirai dies

Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai has died.

Tsvangirai has been in and out of hospital over the past two years after he was diagnosed with colon cancer.

MDC officials in South Africa said they were shocked by his death because they have been receiving reports that he was recovering.

Tsvangirai’s deputies- Thokozani Khupe, Elias Mudzuri and Nelson Chamisa- have been squabbling over his succession with each claiming to be the acting president.

A national executive meeting is scheduled for tomorrow but it is not clear whether it will still go ahead in light of Tsvangirai’s death.
