Tsvangirai address to clash with Parliament

Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai is to present his state-of-the-nation address tomorrow the very day Parliament resumes sitting after more than a month’s break for the festive season.

Tsvangirai’s spokesman Luke Tamborinyoka said the MDC leader would look at possible solutions to the country’s crises including the salary dispute between the government and civil servants.

“The country is facing the crises of legitimacy arising from the stolen election, governance and leadership, as well as a crisis of expectations, emanating from unfulfilled ZANU-PF promises,” Tamborinyoka said.

Meanwhile both houses of Parliament, the House of Assembly and the Senate, will resume sitting tomorrow with the 2014 budget, presented on 19 December being at the top of the order paper for the lower house.

The 2014 budget is more of a policy statement as more than 70 percent of the budget is going to recurrent expenditure mostly civil servants’ salaries.
