Tshabangu turns out to be a headache for Chamisa as Speaker approves recall of 15 MPs

But Mudenda has approved the recall of  the 15 legislators and declared their seats vacant.

Some members of CCC had called on Chamisa not to ignore Tshabangu but this was a little too late as Mudenda had already written to the chief elections offcer declaring the seats vacant.

There have been whispers that Tshabangu is trying to bring order into the party as currently it has no structured leadership.

Although the letters Chamisa wrote to Mudenda were from the “Office of the President” he signed them as leader and presidential candidate, not as party president. 

Former Bulawayo legislator and lawyer Kucaca Phulu said: “What is transpiring in CCC is regretable protagonists must prioritize engaging rather than insults.This is test of leadership. Ignoring Tshabangu & saying he is not a membe(r) CCC is ill advised. ENGAGE!”

Commenting on Chamisa’s letters, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesman George Charamba said: “This communication is just presumptuous. Chamisa should never seek to enlist the Office of the Speaker to resolve the bicker or contestation within his Party. That is his burden. 

“What if it turns out his leadership – and by extension or implication – the authority of his so-called Office is being contested? Should the Office of Speaker be burdened by the inchoateness of his structureless, rule-less, hierarchy-less organisation? 

“The Speaker has to recognise any communication from anyone from his Party, now that its leader declares it is a flat party of equals! If I were Speaker, I would simply brush aside this ill-thought communication!!!!!” 

Mudenda has already done so, opening a can of worms for CCC.

Although it is obvious that the party will win any by-elections called, it will be forced to rethink the way it selects its candidates.
