Three things that keep Zimbabwe Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube awake

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube today said that his three priorities for 2020 will be the three things that keep him awake -food, power and currency stability.

He said Zimbabwe, which is facing severe food shortages, will make sure that its citizens are fed and has enough resources to import both maize and wheat.

Some estimates have said that half the nation needs food aid.

He also said the government will make sure that the country has enough electricity and will licence more independent power producers.

The key issue, however, will be currency stability.  He said the currency has been stable for the last three to four months and he intends to keep it that way.

“If we can keep the currency stable then we will make sure that the pricing process is delinked from currency volatility and we have less of US dollar pricing,” he said.
