#Thisflag’s Evan Mawarire arrested

Pastor Evan Mawarire who rose to fame last year through his social media hashtag #thisflag, after posting a video urging citizens to hold the government to account because of the deteriorating situation in Zimbabwe, was arrested at Harare airport today on his arrival from the United States.

Police spokeswoman Charity Charamba confirmed the arrest saying Mawarire had an outstanding warrant.

Mawarire has been staying in the United Sates since July last year and was accused by his supporters of abandoning them when they needed him most.
