The Samuel Sipepa Nkomo Wikileaks cables

Samuel Sipepa Nkomo made his name as chief executive officer of the Mining Industry Pension Fund. He bankrolled several commercial projects including in his home town of Bulawayo. He rose to become chief executive officer of Associated Newspapers of Zimbabwe, publishers of the Daily News which rose to become the country’s biggest circulation daily before it was closed down in September 2003. He chose to remain with the Tsvangirai faction of the Movement for Democratic Change when the party split in 2005 and was rewarded with the post of Minister of Water Resources when the inclusive government was formed in 2009.
