Former Rhodesian Prime Minister Ian Smith never forgave the British for bringing about majority rule in 1980. Up until his death he believed that blacks were incapable of thinking for themselves. He and his government knew what was best for them. He was never a racist and blacks were never denied the franchise. They were offered the best facilities: education, health and housing. They were not interested in politics and could not be expected to understand it anyway because they had only been exposed to civilisation for a hundred years yet it took whites thousands of years to reach the stage they are at today. Does this ring any bells? Read our review of Ian Smith’s book: The Great Betrayal.
