South Africa to meet Zimbabwe over passports

South African officials as well as the Minister of Home Affairs will meet their Zimbabweans counterparts to discuss how documentation of Zimbabweans can be speeded up since some do not have Zimbabwean passports, the chief director of permits Jacob Mamabolo said today. South Africa plans to process 1 800 applications a day which would take the exercise to the end of June. It does not know now how many of the 275 762 applicants do not have passports. Zimbabwe at the moment can only process 500 passports a day and this could derail the June deadline.
