The Movement for Democratic Change in South Africa today complained that South African police were harassing Zimbabweans to get bribes despite the amnesty extended until December 31. “Those who are being picked up especially in Yeoville are being driven around for hours waiting for relatives to come up with bribery in exchange for the freedom of their dear ones,” the MDC said. “Honestly these guys in blue can’t wait for December 31 before they could fleece ‘cooldrinks’ (bribes) from Zimbabweans.”
