Reports today said Zimbabwe had snubbed an offer by South Africa of a passport printing press capable of churning out 100 000 passports a day. The machine would have cleared the backlog of passport applications by Zimbabweans trying to regularise their stay in South Africa within a day. Zimbabwe is processing only 500 passports a day. Zimbabweans have until Friday to apply to remain in South Africa.
