Only 6 women shortlisted for Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission interviews

Only six women out of 38 candidates have been shortlisted for interviews to join the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission, according to the list published today.

The chair, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo, was appointed last week.

Interviews will be conducted on 21 June.

The six women shortlisted are: Nomsa Hazel Ncube, Fungayi Jessie Majome, Caroline-Ann Chigumira, Sithembiso Angela Tofa, Thandiwe Mlobane and Mabel Ndakaripa Hungwe.

A total of 152 candidates were nominated for the commission whose members resigned in January.

Parliament’s Committee on Standing Rules and Orders only published a list of 133 and this has now been reduced to 38.

The committee has to select at least 12 candidates from which the President will appoint 8.

Corruption is one of the worst scourges in Zimbabwe and is hindering the country’s transformation.
