Nigerian Billionaire Aliko Dankote’s US$640 million dividend higher than yearly government spending of  5 African countries

#4 Swaziland

Government expenditure: US$207.8 million

Eswatini, officially known as the Kingdom of Eswatini and formerly called Swaziland, is a small, landlocked nation in Southern Africa. Bordered by South Africa and Mozambique, Eswatini’s government budget value for 2022 was estimated at SZL3.8 billion (US$207.8 million).

Despite its small size, Eswatini is a country rich in culture and natural resources. However, like many African nations, it faces significant economic challenges, including limited financial resources, high levels of poverty, and a lack of access to quality healthcare and education.

#5 Malawi

Government expenditure: US$143.5 million

Malawi is a landlocked country in southeast Africa, currently led by President Lazarus Chakwera. Despite having a GDP of US$12.63 billion and a gross fixed capital formation of MWK 201.9 billion (US$196.6 million), Malawi is one of the African countries with government spending of less than US$150 million per year.

In 2022, the country’s annual government spending was MWK147.3 billion (US$143.5 million), significantly lower than the US$640.6 million dividend that will be paid into Aliko Dangote’s bank account in April.

While Malawi has made progress in recent years, such as achieving economic growth and reducing poverty rates, the country still faces significant challenges, including limited financial resources, high levels of unemployment, and a lack of access to basic healthcare and education.- Billionaires.Africa
