New VP Phelekezela Mphoko in car accident

Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko who was sworn-in on Friday was involved in a car accident yesterday but escaped unhurt. The accident came only four days after allegations that there had been an attempt to poison his colleague Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The appointments of Mphoko and Mnangagwa were both controversial leading to a lot of conspiracy theories.  According to police, Mphoko’s accident occurred along Enterprise Road and involved a T35 truck that was carrying wedding equipment. Only one person who was in the truck was injured. Mphoko was in his official car. National Constitutional Assembly leader Lovemore Madhuku is challenging the appointments of the vice-presidents. He argues that President Robert Mugabe can only appoint one vice-president and not two. The move is seen as a way of trying to get sacked Vice-President Joice Mujuru back. But according to NewZimbabwe.Com Mujuru has already congratulated Mnangagwa and Mphoko on their appointments. She was quoted as saying: “I have nothing personal against the two vice presidents of the republic; I wish to congratulate them and wish them all success as they serve the people of Zimbabwe.”
