The case of former Headlands Member of Parliament Didymus Mutasa and Hurungwe West MP Temba Mliswa will be heard by a full Constitutional Court bench on 1 April. Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku yesterday determined that the case, in which the two are challenging their expulsion from Parliament, was urgent. Mutasa and Mliswa also want the by-elections in the two constituencies stopped. They were expelled from Parliament after the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front advised the Speaker Jacob Mudenda that they were no longer members of the party. Nominations for the by-elections for the two constituencies are set for 8 April. Lovemore Madhuku who is representing Mutasa and Mliswa said the case had been set for 1 April to allow the court to finalise the case before 8 April. There have been reports that more than 20 candidates are interested in contesting the two seats.
