Mugabe summoned to appear before Parliament on 9 May

Former President Robert Mugabe has been summoned to appear before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines on 9 May to explain his statement that the country has lost $15 billion worth of diamonds.

The figure continues to be touted though Mugabe himself has said it was a figure that just came up and had no bearing to reality.

Presidential spokesman George Charamba pointed this out more than a year ago.

Zimbabwe fact-checking organization, Zimfact, says there is no way Zimbabwe could have lost so much revenue without the world noticing.

Defence secretary Martin Rushwaya told the committee yesterday who ever gave the figure to Mugabe was mischievous.

It is not clear whether Mugabe will be of any help as he seems to be forgetting a lot of things.
