Mugabe stashed away $1 million at his rural home

Former President stashed away $1 million dollars at his rural home in 2016 but his employees stole the money leaving him only $78 000, court reports said yesterday.

Four of his employees including a relative Constance Mugabe, were arrested this month and were initially charged with stealing $150 000 from the former president.

Reports say court papers released in court yesterday where Constance Mugabe, Saymore Nheketwa, Andrew Mahumbe and Johannes Mapurisa, are appearing showed that Mugabe has stashed $1 million into one of the briefcases.

There was only $78 000 when the suitcase was returned on 6 January this year.

Mugabe gave the impression of an upright leader during his 37-year stay in office but his wife and children exposed him through their extravagance with Grace Mugabe at one time claiming she only wore designer ferragamo shoes because her feet were very narrow.

His children also stayed in very expensive apartments in Dubai, Hong Kong and Johannesburg.
