Mugabe says “naked” Britain has nothing to offer

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, who is current chairman of the African Union, has called on African countries to guard their natural resources because the West was creating wars in some countries so that it can exploit their resources while they are fighting.

Addressing the AU assembly in Johannesburg, South Africa, yesterday, Mugabe said:  “There are those who wish our oil is theirs. They wish all we have, all that wealth is theirs. When they look at their little island, the British – naked with nothing to offer except coal which we are burning every day – and America which has a vast territory, they say the oil we have is not enough to sustain us….

“There is a lot in Africa where they do not know what to do with it. They get it by hook and crook. Suddenly, they start a war. Saddam is a cruel man. He is preparing to slaughter others. He has weapons of mass destruction. Poor Saddam has no media and cannot answer properly,” Mugabe was quoted by The Chronicle as saying.

He said the war in Iraq was all about getting its oil. The same happened in Libya where the country has not known any peace since the ousting of strongman Muammar Gaddafi.

“Same story is told about poor Gaddafi. It comes to the UN and they get the two-thirds majority and they go, leader of Britain, France and Italy. I never knew Berlusconi loves fights, I knew he loved women. This time he goes with others, women later. Gaddafi is killed alongside his children. Look at the turmoil in Iraq and in Libya, all that to confuse the situation so that they can have an excuse to draw oil. As we fight each other they are busy drawing oil and enriching themselves.”
