Mugabe now free to travel to Europe but only on AU business

President Robert Mugabe who was elected African Union chairman last week is now free to travel to Europe but only when he is on AU business. It was not clear whether this would also apply to his wife, Grace. Mugabe ad his wife are still on European Union sanctions which are due to be reviewed this month. The only other entity on EU sanctions is Zimbabwe Defence Industries. Mugabe will be AU chairman for a year. The EU has resumed bilateral relations with Zimbabwe but Britain insists that its aid will not be channelled through the Zimbabwean government.
