Mugabe not alone in his dislike of gays

President Robert Mugabe who has described homosexuals as worse than dogs and pigs is not alone in his dislike of gays. It is a continental problem. Seventy-nine percent of the Africans do not like them either.

A survey by Afrobarometer released yesterday said only 21 percent of the citizens across 33 African countries in the survey said they did not mind having homosexual neighbours.

A majority of citizens in only four countries – Cape Verde (74%), South Africa (67%) Mozambique (56%) and Namibia (55%) had no problems with gays.

The highest intolerance of gays was in Senegal where 97 percent did not want them for neighbours, followed by Guinea, Uganda, Burkina Faso and Niger which had 95 percent.

One in 10 Zimbabweans does not have any problems with gays.
