President Robert Mugabe has appointed two ministers Clifford Sibanda and Tabitha Kanengoni-Malinga to save in his vice-Presidents’ offices at a time when everyone was expecting him to reduce the size of his government following an announcement by Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa that government intends to reduce the civil service wage bill from 83 percent of government expenditure to about 40 percent.
Besides the president and his two deputies, the government has 30 ministries, 10 provincial ministers and 24 deputy ministers.
Public Service Minister Prisca Mupfumira is acting Minister of Information while Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa serves as Justice Minister, reducing the number of ministers to 28.
Sibanda was assigned to Mnangagwa’s office and Kanengoni-Malinga to Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko’s office.
